Matrix NAC Unit 4 GIS substation installation

PSEG POWER LLC UNIT 5 GIS SUBSTATION INSTALL 2019

Location: Bridgeport, CT

Matrix NAC was awarded the installation of new 345kV GIS equipment to add 485MW of efficient generating capacity to Connecticut’s southwestern region, powering more than 500,000 homes and businesses with clean, sustainable energy. The installation included the below-grade conduit and grounding as well as providing temporary power support to the project.

The new gas-insulated substation was constructed for the new power plant. Eight existing 115kV transmission and associated distribution lines feeding the existing Pequonnock substation were relocated to connect to the new substation. The new GIS substation is located on approximately two acres of vacant land inside the existing PSEG Bridge Harbor site.

Matrix NAC was able to mitigate schedule impacts of owner-supplied material, weather-related delays, and accessibility to a highly congested project site while still completing the GIS phase of the project on schedule and safely without injury or incident.
